Home Organizing Westchester NY

October 2, 2017 by Gosia

As I was finishing designing and decorating my client’s home in Bedford, Westchester County, NY, it amazed me how challenging it was for them to enjoy their home. They were living in this great small house, amazing town, friendly people and great community, yet there was something missing.

As much as my clients wanted to enjoy their home, they couldn’t. Between two small kids, full-time jobs, after-school activities, there were very stressed and overwhelmed by the mess and unorganized home

Every room required some organizing plus there were still boxes left unopened from their move from two years ago. It was very obvious how much they needed my help.

Maggie’s Organizing and Staging to the rescue!

• Stage One:
decluttering and organizing plus deciding what to keep, donate and discard. Finally, we were able to open remaining boxes! What a relief!

• Stage Two:
We helped the family with some painting and repairs. I was able to contact few companies that serve Bedford, NY, chose the right companies for a job and few weeks later, the house looked 100% more attractive than before.

• Stage Three:
My client and I picked up some ideas for decorating their home.

It was not just about beauty of their home, it was about creating an organized home with harmony and love.

With 2 small kids running around, making a mess all the time, I created a special space for them with some beautiful and simple cubicles so that it looks great and keeps kids organized.

My clients were able to enjoy their home again with simple and creative ideas. I love to do what I do, and it makes me so happy to create organized and beautiful homes for my clients.

Back To School Organizing

September 4, 2017 by Gosia

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Back To School Organizing: It’s the Labor Day weekend, last chance for a family vacation before the kids are back in school. I really hope all of you had a great summer enjoying many warm days before school starts. Summer was very busy for my business.  I helped so many clients with different organizing services, moving,  packing and unpacking my clients and staging/ decorating service throughout the Tri State Area. I worked in Greenwich, CT, Saddle River, NJ, New York City and other parts of Bergen County and Westchester County.

I feel so blessed that was able to help so many clients. Thanks to my expertise and the right approach, I was able to create a stress-free system, organized and harmonized homes, beautifully staged spaces, all that to benefit my clients and create the best solution for them.

With going back to school, work and after-school activities, I hear from my clients how overwhelmed they often are due to clutter in their home, kids rooms, playroom and closets.

The thought of getting their kids ready for school every day, so often horrifies them.

First of all, please don’t buy anything for your kids anymore until you get their rooms organized and clutter-free.

I know you think it’s impossible but it truly is. It’s always about creating a right system that will work for them.

The most important thing is to decide what to keep, donate, discard and possibly to sell. Organizing and Categorizing is crucial, so you should have at least 3 piles of categories. Don’t be afraid to remove everything from each closet so that you are recreating that space with clothes that you will actually use. If your child doesn’t like it and won’t wear it, please donate it.

Work with your child at the time when you are going through categorizing and organizing.

Ask him/ her if you are not sure about some items.

Work on one space at the time! Next concentrate on drawers one at the time as well.

It’s also a good idea to have a plan about where you want to put all the clothes.

Seasonal items always should be available easier for you and your child. Out of season items, you can put higher since you will not use it at the regular bases.

You will be surprised that with this plan you can easily finish organizing your child closets and rooms. And it’s totally ok to ask your child for help.

You will feel so accomplished and stress-free when you are finally done.

Most important, your family will be so much productive each morning before you get your kids ready for school.

Organized life means a stress-free life![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”455″ img_size=”full”][vc_btn title=”Contact Maggie!” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fmaggiesorganizing.com%2Fcontact-maggie%2F|||”][vc_wp_posts number=”10″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Home Projects: How to Prevent Being Overwhelmed

April 19, 2017 by Gosia

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Home Projects: How to Prevent Being Overwhelmed: We all know that owning a home means constantly do projects around the house. If you purchased a home that doesn’t require any major home projects and improvements, you are lucky.

Still, we have smaller improvements around the house all year round, and the list is always growing.

As a professional organizer and Stager, working in the Tri State Area for more than 15 years, I help my clients to find the best possible solutions for their home or office. Home organizing is also helping clients to manage projects the best possible way. Very often, together with my client, we create a list of home projects that we want to tackle. Planning is crucial!

Very often, my clients asks me to recommend a general contractor or other businesses  for upcoming  projects they desire to finish. I know a lot of them and choose best ones for my clients.
Once you become a homeowner, the number of things you need (or want) to improve increases exponentially. There’s always something to be done. But certain times of year are better to tackle specific projects, whether your goal is to save money or sanity. Not sure where to begin? I will help you to create the list so that you can be more organized and be less stressed with everything that is going on around your home and life as well.

As my favorite book: ‘”The One Thing” states, focus on thing only. That means one project at the time. Organizing your projects the right way will allow you to stay focus during the process.

Of course, when you hire someone to renovate your home, the company usually has everything under control and you have no choice but trust them with their expertise and creating best results for your home.

January: Clean your carpets and rugs

I advise my clients on putting new carpeting or cleaning them during the winter time when most people spend the majority of their time indoors. As a plus,  the lack of humidity during the winter months allows moisture to evaporate quickly so wet carpets dry faster.  And a clean carpet provides a healthier and better-smelling home, which is especially important during the winter.

February: Paint your home

Winter is a perfect time to do project inside the house but you can enjoy it all year round. If you’re hiring someone to paint for you, winter is a good time to do it. You’re likely to get a much better price than you’d get during the spring and summer when many people book exterior painting jobs. Again, there is less humidity in your home and that really helps with paint drying faster.

March: Clean your gutters
As we springtime into spring time, we know that it is time for outside projects to begin. Clogged gutters, which do an ineffective job of directing runoff away from your home’s foundation, which can lead to water issues in a basement or other parts of a house.  All that moisture can cause major foundation problems. Depending on your gutters (and whether you have overhanging trees), you may need to tackle this task more than once a year.

April: Refinish your hardwood floors
If you’ve discovered hardwoods beneath your new home’s carpeting, wait until spring to complete this labor-intensive but trans formative task. My brother always tells me that during summer and humid months it’s not the best for floors to be installed.Wood expands during summer months and shrinks during winter. If you wait until it’s really hot out, the finish can cure too quickly and the sheen might not dry properly, which leads to a glossy, uneven finish.

May: Buy a new refrigerator
Although most large appliances go on sale later in the year, refrigerators have their moment in May, in preparation for the summer. To make room for that new inventory, the older versions usually go on sale, which can mean big discounts for consumers. Want even more savings? Consider energy efficiency (look for the Energy Star certification) and ask if you can buy the floor model. Don’t forget to haggle!

June: Freshen up your exterior
Now’s the time to wash your windows (or pay someone to do it), power-wash your siding, and install screens in your windows. Before you power-wash, be sure that all your weatherstripping and caulking is secure (and your windows are closed). Otherwise, you risk shooting the cleaning liquid into your house.

July: Fertilize your lawn
“Your lawn needs a solid four to six fertilization applications throughout the year to keep it healthy and growing,” based on my lanscaper. Fertilizing in July will give your lawn the vitamins and nutrients it needs to get through the rest of the hot summer months. Also, this midsummer application helps to prevent weeds from germinating — setting you up for less weed pulling in the fall.

August: Paint your home’s exterior
The best time to paint your home’s exterior is when temperatures remain consistent from day to day and don’t drastically dip overnight. “The real key is “to work your way around the house so that you’re always painting in the shade.” First, map out what time of day the sun hits each side of your home, then paint accordingly.

September: Replace your windows
Caulk adheres better when the temperaturze is between 40 and 80 degrees, so those glorious days of late summer and early fall are an ideal time to replace your windows. Plus, when the cold weather does hit, new windows will keep the heat where it belongs — inside your house.

October: Buy new appliances
Big-ticket appliances such as stoves, washing machines, and dishwashers debut their newest models around this time of year. That frequently means deep discounts on the old ones. Some retailers will even start their holiday sales early. Double savings!

November: Remodel your bathroom
Contractors are entering their slow season this month, so they’re more willing to jump on a small project and get it done quickly.

December:Build a deck, steps or finish a walkway
Many general contractors are super busy during from February until November.  You’ll probably get a good deal, because some builders will be winding down for the winter. But adding a deck or steps onto your house when it’s cold out makes sense from a building perspective too. December is less humid, so if you’re using pressure-treated wood, it’ll dry more consistently and evenly. Also, the hot sun won’t beat down on it, which can cause warping and cracking.

Organized Home and Life

March 10, 2017 by Gosia

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Organized Home and Life: Regularly, I hear from my clients how overwhelmed, unhappy and stressed they are due to clutter building up and lacking an organized life. They may be happy with their marriage, kids, and jobs, but not necessarily happy with themselves. Unfortunately, it is often caused by clutter and an unorganized life.

What is clutter and not being organized?

Last week, one of my clients, located in White Plains, NY, told me how difficult and challenging it was to live a normal life due to an unorganized home. It affected her in so many ways; at home and at work for so many years. With tears in her eyes, she admitted to me how excited and scared she was at the same time to contact me and asked to help her with her clutter situation. She mentioned,” imagine looking for your favorite blouse that you want to wear and you just can’t find it no matter how frantically I tried looking for it; I was frustrated and felt unproductive.”

I hear that too often!

The great news is, that stage of your life can be put behind you with some guiding help; you can have an organized and productive environment, which in the end, must have a very happy life. You must  have a positive mindset. If you don’t put your mind to it, then your goal will seem like its running father away each day. Being able to control your feelings and see the “pot of gold” at the end of your rainbow is the most difficult and most rewarding part of organizing, whether its organizing your life or a specific room. Once reaching this part of that process, it will feel like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders.

Being organized is about living the life you want to live. It’s so much more than creating a beautiful space and have things in order.Being organized  is about reaching for your dreams and loving  all of your surroundings.

When you decide to work on your clutter and unorganized space,   just remember to stay focused, positive and motivated throughout the whole process.

When you are going through piles of things, with a challenge of decision making  what to keep, donate and discard.

Always ask yourself  questions:

Do I like it?
Is it beautiful?
Am I going to use it?

Be honest with yourself and if your answer is yes, that should stay. Otherwise, let the item go. Letting go doesn’t have to be a difficult process and you can sell, donate, or discard the item(s).

Make room for all your beautiful things that you already have and simply can’t find it due to clutter.

Just remember, I’m here if you have any questions.

There is nothing more fulfilling than helping my clients with all their organizing and staging needs. In the end, it’s about you making you happy and productive with a feeling of a life-changing accomplishment, whether big or small. Seeing client’s smile after working with them, going through the good and difficult times and watching them grow into a decluttering pro is what brings my passion and love for – organizing.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”567″ img_size=”full”][vc_btn title=”Contact Maggie!” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fmaggiesorganizing.com%2Fcontact-maggie%2F|||”][vc_wp_posts number=”10″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Organizing Lives and Love

November 7, 2016 by Gosia

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Organizing Lives and Love. Not too long ago, I went to a Network event to meet with other businesses at a local restaurant in Stony Point, NY.  It was a nice event and I met a lot of great people and contacts. Few hours went by quickly!

I noticed on the other side of the restaurant there was another event being held. There was a big sign saying: “Charity event and fundraiser” for a little girl fighting cancer.

I decided to step inside and find her parents. My first thought was to give her some toys and clothes that I often receive from my clients when I organize their homes. However, meeting her parents was so much bigger and overwhelming for me once I started to speak with them. Immediately, I wanted to do more, to use my expertise in organizing and staging, and give back to that girl and her family.

How could I give it back?

That was simple! I decided to organize and furnish this girl’s bedroom, or at least make some positive changes in her bedroom. So, I asked my friend Bob to paint her room in her favorite color pink. We used some of her existing furniture and add some elements to beautify her room. We added some pictures and painting on her walls with fun lighting, toys, baskets and more. We did all that when she was at a hospital doing some tests.

And finally, that day came. She was back! I was invited to see her reaction when she saw her room. I was not surprised when she screamed and jumped from being so overwhelmingly happy and excited to see her organized and decorated room.

My heart felt full from joy, tears and a big smile on that 7 year old girl’s face.

So let me tell you a secret:
I love to do what I do!
I love to help others and make a difference in so many peoples lives.

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Home Office Organizing: Are you ready to organize your home office space?

Home offices become much more common to have now. You don’t have to be self-employed or work from home to have a home office; it can be used simply for sorting through bills, finances, documents, watching TV, reading a newspaper or book.

For some reason, often home office becomes messy, dusty, cluttered, and disorganized space. Often we throw there everything that it’s on our way!

It becomes our storage room! Grrr! Am I right ?? You don’t have to wait for a special occasion to work on organizing your office. Anytime is a great time.

It may not be as easy at first to get motivated but simply start with removing the trash and shredding the unwanted paperwork; recycling/ discarding unwanted papers, alphabetizing and color coding your filing system.

You can actually have fun while you do it!

So set yourself a time limit, put on your favorite music on and be proud of yourself when it’s all done and organized! If you have questions or you struggle by doing it on your own, I’m here to help!
